#SOL17: Thanks!!!

thanks

Every day is a day to cherish and give thanks!

Thanks for the guidance

And for NOT saying, “I told you so!”

Thanks for being there . . .

When I had questions

Thanks for modeling grace

In times of trouble

Thanks for listening

To what I didn’t say as well as the words.

Thanks for loving books

And allowing me to bury my nose in books.

When this arises . . .

mom

I wonder . . .

What would Mom say or do?

Sometimes I don’t listen so well to that inner voice

And I think there might be a different, better way

But often I find that

Mom was right.

Each sunrise brings me joy, thanks to you.

Each time we talk is joyful, thanks to you.

Degrees I have four, thanks to you,

I can be brave, thanks to your example.

Every breath I take, I give thanks to you.

This week, I wish you joy, love and peace!

happy mothers day

This day was meant for YOU!

Just found this AGAIN.  Here’s my “placeholder” . . . real moms!

    1. Thanks, Kevin. Trying to be early for a change! 🙂

  2. What a nice tribute. Your mom sounds like a strong woman who is a powerful mentor. I had a mom like that too. We are lucky!

    1. So lucky to have moms that are strong! And yes, we are so lucky! ❤

  3. So beautiful! Yay, Moms!

    1. Aileen,
It truly takes a village. Just took the picture last week of the “girls” also all strong MOMs! THANKS!

  4. Oh, Fran! What a great tribute to your mom! I love this post – made me think of my mom who helped me be the best I could be. What a beautiful thank you!

    1. Lynne,
I think this is another avenue for summer writing. Thank you’s to those who have impacted our lives or stories of kindness and/or gratitude could also be thoughtful summer writing! ❤

  5. What a lovely tribute — I must admit I read it with a reflective lens. Wondering what my teenage boys would write — I yell; I’m not always graceful; I may say, I told you so, every once in awhile…I do listen and they have a TON of books!! I have some goals for myself!!! Thank you for sharing — kind of a mentor text for mothering.

    1. Clare, if you want feedback ask quickly before the dating era! That changes dynamics!. So interesting that we don’t have more “mother” mentor text!

      Thanks!!!

  6. Oh, Fran…you were lucky with moms, that’s for sure. Beautiful tribute.

    1. Thanks, Tara, yes, lucky to have such a great role model. Now fun to learn how to be a grandma!!!

  7. What a beautiful poem. It makes me remember my mom In younger years when dementia didn’t have its ugly grip on her. I am just glad I still get to be in her happy presence.

    1. Thanks, Rita. It remember looking my grandmas when I was in college. Interesting to see how family dynamics play out over time!

  8. So beautiful, Fran. Sounds like she is a great lady. Reminds me so much of my mom. We have been blessed!

    1. Thanks, Alice. Yes – blessed!

  9. This is a beautiful tribute to your beautiful mom. Thank you for sharing it with us. Happy Mother’s day to you and your mother!
