#SOL22: April

April could be . . .

The 5 letter daily Wordle

Full of green growth

Budding flowers

But instead

April is

Snow Again

Weather alerts

Severe storms

Slow to warm

Only one crocus

Daring to bloom

Wind roaring

Coats required

This fourth month

Unseasonably cool

Slowly greening

One third gone

Fleeting seconds of joy

Amidst gloomy, grey and dreary days.

Where is spring?

Will it be a short spring? What will nature bring? What weather patterns will you see in April?

  1. March might have the lion/lamb adage, but April always seems wilder. We went from 77F on Thursday to snow yesterday. You capture this swing beautifully.

    1. Forty degree swings in less than a day are becoming the norm. I feel like a yoyo.
      Thanks, Adrienne!

  2. Fran, if you happen to fins Spring please send it out way as well. This week we are to have spring-like temperatures, but next week it is back to below normal temps. Crazy weather!

    1. Spring! I am ready for some consistency for sure and will be quite happy to share it!

  3. Hope springs each April…and each April brings shocking discouragement. My Facebook memories of snow covered sidewalks remind me that April is never uniformly what I expect. You’ve captured it here, Fran!

*I hope this comment doesn’t go as a sub comment but sometimes on mobile I can’t tell until I post it. So…

    1. Hope vs. Discouragement.
      So true.
My favorite is remembering 10# of snow in May about 25 years ago. That was a shocker!

And your comment was a real comment. I hate when that happens on my phone!
