#SOL18: Remnants

In the trails

In the hollows

In the ditches

In the shady spots

Out of the sun

In those darkened spots

Traces remain

A glimpse of what was

Just two short weeks ago.

Flat spaces of brown

Dry and sparsely vegetated

Scattered collections of gray and white

Remnants of the great snowstorm of two weeks ago.

Snow in the news.

20 ” shattering records

Causing accidents

Collapsing roofs and

Exploding transformers.

A blanket of snow

A fresh new covering

Quickly fades as the danger emerges

For people, animals, and vehicles on the road.

Observation and Reading the World – First four stanzas

Final two stanzas – Found poem from CBS Nightly News @ 5:30 pm on December 10, 2018.
